Valentine's Day Boxes

Cade and Davis had to make boxes for their Valentine's Day parties at school (yes, another project!) Each grade had a different type of contest. Once again our kitchen table was turned into a craft table but I think the projects came out nice.
Davis working hard on his design
Jeremy working the hot glue gun
Perry the platypus (from Phineas and Ferb). This was Cade's. He won most original. It is made out of a #10 food storage can and paper mache.
Davis is obsessed with football right now. We have a little rivalry going on in our home right now. Jeremy, Davis, and Easton are fans of the U while Cade and I are Cougar fans. There is a war on to win over Foster!! Davis thought this box was perfect!

Snow Day

Foster enjoying the snow, or maybe not!
Davis making a snow angel
Easton hanging with the snowman
Easton smiling for the camera!
The drive up Valley Creek by the golf course
It started snowing on Thursday so I took the boys out of school early so they could come home and enjoy the snow. This was on Thursday Feb 11th around 12:30pm. The snow continued all throught the night and most of the next day. School was canceled on Friday and Jeremy also stayed home so we were able to enoy another snow day. All together we had a record breaking of up to 11 inches from Thurs to Friday!!
It is always a race to be the first to go down the slide when we have snow! The thing we love most about Texas is that even after all that snow, on Saturday, most of it was melted and gone. The following week was nice and warm again. It is nice to be able to enjoy the snow for the kids but not have to be trapped by it all winter and especially not have to shovel it!

Projects

Last month it seemed like we were doing one project after another, maybe because we were! Here is a sample of a few of them:

Davis' pinewood derby car - he came in second by 1/100th of a second!
Cad's car - placed fourth overall
This is a Giant Leopard Moth that we watch turn from a caterpillar
Easton decided to do his science project on our new family pet!
Davis did his science project on how a compass works. Cade thankfully decided not to do a project this year!

Second graders have to do a research project on a polar animal and Davis chose the Puffin. He had to make a diorama and do a PowerPoint on the animal. He and Jeremy made this box with modeling clay and Styrofoam. It turned out great. We were glad however when it was over. We were a little tired of projects by the end of the month.

Cade playing Basketball

Cade and Davis are almost done with their basketball season and I haven't posted any pictures yet. (The pictures of Davis still need to be downloaded. We got new cameras for Christmas and just don't have everything set up to download as easy as we used to.) Cade's team is undefeated so far with one game to go. He really has grown a lot this season and become a strong consistent player. We are so proud of him. Go Sooners!

Davis' Baptism

This is what happens when you tell Easton to smile

Davis' quilt- It has his name, baptism date and scripture quote

Well it has been almost a month ago and I have still not been able to get the photos up of Davis' big day. I don't know if it is the new camera or the baby (maybe both) but I am way behind on the blog. Here are a few pictures of Davis on his special day.

Visitors

Jeremy, Tanja, Ursula, Arlene, Manfred
Easton, Cade, Davis, Maren, Lara, and Kaila

I am way behind on posts but we have been really busy this month with projects and visitors and baptisms. We were very fortunate to have Aunt Arlene and Clarence come to visit us at the beginning of Jan. Arlene and Clarence had come out to meet our cousins from Germany who were here visiting their daughter. We all had dinner one night and had a good time getting to know everyone. The boys really enjoyed having Clarence and Arlene here. Foster never had a chance to be put down and the older boys wanted to play cards all day with Clarence. We had a great time and are thankful that they came to stay with us.
