Ben 10 Alien Force

For those of you who do not have boys, let me tell you about Ben 10. He is a boy who has a watch which lets him turn into different aliens to fight bad guys. Ben 10 is a major thing around here and for the last month they have been advertising the newest Ben 10 movie (on cartoon network). That is all I have heard about and all the kids could think about so we decided to have a Ben 10 alien force party. With Cade and Davis and their friends, Easton, Jeremy, and I, we had 10! We made pizzas, ate cupcakes and watched the show. The best part was that during the commercials we would mute the tv and ask questions about the girls at school. At first no one was talking, but eventually one of them squealed on the other and then they all started telling on each other! I loved it. I hope as they grow, they continue to tell on each other like that!! It was fun and nice that all three of our boys felt a part of it.

Snow day in Texas

Last Monday (April 14th) the boys were out of school for a "snow day" which was scheduled but since we had no snow, we spent the day at the park flying kites. Did I say how much I love living in Texas????

Update on doors

Before: an open formal dining room
Under construction
Final (almost, needs to be painted) product

Some of you asked for updates back in Jan when Jeremy started working on our French doors. He had to wall off an open room and put the doors in. While the project is not quite finished (we still have to paint), he has done a terrific job. Four months might seem like a long time but when you consider he has a full time and some time even overtime job, three young boys with busy schedule themselves, and me as a wife who is always coming up with little side projects that HAVE to be done in any spare time he might have. I have to say, I am so impressed with what he was able to accomplish!

Under the Big Top

Yesterday the Circus came to town and we took the boys. They were excited to see the clowns greeting us in the line. The boys realy enjoyed the different acts. Easton scared us when he commented how cool the motorcylce on the high wire was! All of us loved the flying trapeeze acts. Now Easton doesn't know if he wasnts to be the flying guy or walking on the rope! Davis wants to do the flying trapeeze and Cade is the only sane one who just wants to watch!

Easton wanted popcorn and couldn't get the attention of the guy walking around seeling food. He kept his hand raised waving his money for the longest time. When I gave him the money, he said "I know what to do Mom." He had to wait so long for the guy to make his rounds that eventually Jeremy took him and walked over to the guy on the other side of the tent.

3000 Leagues Under the Sea

During our trip to Houston, we took the boys to Galveston to Sea wolf Park. My dad (Bud) served in the Navy on Submarines so it was fun for him to be able to take the boys on a tour of a real sub.

Next time I complain about how small my kitchen is, I will just look at this picture and be grateful. The poor cooks on this boat had to prepare food for about 100 men.

Bud couldn't fit as easily as he once did! ( Your welcome dad!!)

This was where the enlisted men slept. The boys thought it was cool that they had so many bunk beds.

The boys had fun going in and out of the hatchs. Bud enjoyed giving us the tour and showing us what he used to do for so many years. I learned I am very claustrophobic!

Houston we have take off!

For Spring Break I took the kids down to Houston for a trip to NASA. My uncle lives down there and my parents came over and met us there. We had such a fun filled week. There are so many pictures that I can't even post them all.

We were able to visit and tour the Astronaut Training Facility. It was interesting to see all that they go through to prepare for Space.

On the day we were there we had the rare occasion to actually see astronauts training. The pictures are a little dark (we were in a hurry and dealing with taking pictures through a window) but you can see the astronauts in the orange space suits. The boys were so excited that they got to see real astronauts that day!

There are lots of fun games and adventures for the kids to simulate space travel. Here Easton is attempting to land a lunar modular.

Destination Imagination!

This is the video from the play that our boys did for Destination Imagination. It might not look like much but you have to realize these kids are in kindergarten (except Cade who is in first grade). The kids were assigned to take a historical event and change it, "What if it never happened...." They were the ones who came up with the idea, wrote the words, decided on costumes, and even built the backdrop and scenery. They worked on this since Oct. and last week were able to go to the tournament. It was an amazing program to be a part of. The kids were so excited and proud of themseleves and even though it took so much time, we will be doing this again next year.
